Five miles from the centre of Positano the dazzling white, art-filled Casa Angelina sits majestically on the cliff top overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean. This 30-room boutique hotel is a seriously cool property, ideal for couples looking for a contemporary designer vibe.

Sea views from every pristine white room and suite are stunning and far reaching across to Capri and Positano. There’s a pillow, mattress and product menu (including Jo Malone) and you’re provided with more Etro towels than you’ll know what to do with, which are constantly replaced. Standards are very high and the discreet, charming and unassuming service with a smile is some of the best you’ll find on the Amalfi Coast.

The One Fire beach club on Gavitella Beach is accessed by lift and then by many many steps (not for the faint-hearted or anyone with mobility issues) and here you can enjoy a day by the sea or book a privately skippered boat trip for the day. Capri perhaps? Or why not grab a boat taxi and head over to Chez Black in Positano for lunch?

Back at the hotel the views from the pool and the Sea View Restaurant are unbeatable. This is the perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail or two and watch the sun go down before settling in for a relaxed dining experience or heading to the Un Piano nel Cielo rooftop restaurant for a fine dining (and smart) candlelit dinner under the starry skies.

If you’re keen to keep up with your fitness routine head to the gym where there’s also an indoor pool, steam room and sauna.

An exceptional hotel that comes very close to perfection. Open April to October.
